Summary
THIS evening has been designated a French evening at Chez Ray - but it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that our long standing Gallic friends are playing England in Portugal. For we have so much in common with France, going back to the Auld Alliance and Bonnie Prince Charlie, that historically we are closer to them than our next door neighbours.
Since then, the splendour of our respective foods continue to move us closer as nations, for we are the country that has brought black pudding and haggis to the world's table.
