THIS SACKING makes clear the huge obstacles that face any whistleblower. Mr Cross saw mistakes and policy changes that he believed put children in danger.
It is galling that his determination to protect those children has cost him his job. But sadly, that is how the system works. The rights of whistleblowers, particularly in government, have been cut back over the last 20 years to save the blushes of ministers who don't want to admit their mistakes.
