Summary

INVERNESS Caley Thistle captain Bobby Mann signed for Dundee last month, confident he'd secured his place in history as the first man to lead the Highlanders into the promised land of the SPL. However, Tuesday's decision to deny John Robertson's men promotion means he's the only member of that side guaranteed to be playing at the highest level next season. The 30-year-old now fears his old club could go the way of Falkirk, who never seriously challenged for the title last season after similarly being refused entry as champions the year before. And he delivered a stinging rebuke to SPL chief Lex Gold and his cohorts for making the Scottish game a laughing stock by failing to learn the obvious lessons from the Falkirk debacle.

Mann is also convinced his old club's failure to secure the eight votes necessary to gain admission - they fell one short - illustrates the way the system is loaded against the smaller clubs. And he's unconvinced the next vote on June 22 will change anything. He said: "It was very disappointing to hear the news. We all believed that the ground-sharing principle had been agreed back in March. "As a result, this is a real downer for the club and the whole town.
