Summary
QI RECENTLY bought a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD Auto with the idea of having an LPG conversion, as it is quite thirsty. I have paid a pounds 500 deposit to have it done at the end of April. I have spoken to two people who had the conversion without problems. However. a local mechanic has just told me not to touch one with a barge-pole. Can you advise me, as I am now confused. Should I ask for my pounds 500 deposit back? - Nigel Roper, email
ADON'T be confused. LPG will slash you fuel bills in half, is widely available - there are 1,500 stations throughout the UK - and Vauxhall used to offer a dual-fuel Omega straight from the factory. I ran a gas Cherokee for three years and thought it was the best thing since Marilyn Monroe bathmats. Just make sure the firm doing the conversion is approved by the Association of LPG Installers and has tackled the Omega before. Best news of all is LPG looks set to stay at its present price (around 30p a litre) for a good while yet.See the full content of this document
