THIS must be one of the most spectacular journeys in Britain - and it is a trip I first made when I was just 11. The train passes fields and canals, racecourses and chalk horses before joining the South-West Coast beyond Exeter St Davids. Salt forms on the windows and during winter storms waves sometimes crash over the train. The train then hurtles towards the furthest corner of the West Country, passing sandy beaches and coastal villages.
