AMANDA Creswell from Lincoln owns a 99T Alfa Romeo Spider Lusso which she bought three years ago from a main dealer.

It has been fully serviced and maintained since then. Recently the car suffered a major engine failure because of a lack of oil to the crankshaft, resulting in a replacement engine. The Alfa engineer told her the problem was known to be a recurring fault on Alfas. Amanda had no prior warning from engine knock or her oil pressure warning-light, so she had no way of preventing the damage. Alfa agree.
