Summary
Q I WAS involved in a motorway collision in May and my new Rover 75 Contemporary needed pounds 5k worth of repairs. Due to the difficulty in getting parts, I won't get my car back until mid- September. Worse still, I have been given a Class A hire car, a Vauxhall Corsa. Even though I'm insured for business use, the insurance company (Frizzell) are refusing to give me anything else. Shouldn't I get a better replacement? What guarantee do I have that my car will drive the same after so much damage? - Paul Taylor, email
A NONE of this is acceptable or fair. You can't be expected to meet your clients or plough up and down the motorway in a Vauxhall Corsa for three months. As you are insured for business use, you should qualify for an equivalent courtesy car. As for your Rover being properly repaired, get an independent inspection of the damage and proposed repair work before you sign off at the bodyshop. After all, it's your money they're spending.See the full content of this document
