Q I BOUGHT a second-hand Vectra from Motorpoint three weeks ago but am now having problems with the rear hatchback, which is out of alignment. I took it to a main Vauxhall dealer who told me that it had been repaired after a minor rear bump. Should Motorpoint have told me about this? A MOST used cars have had a knock or scrape at some time. You can't be sure whether Motorpoint knew your Vauxhall had been repaired, and the bang you describe isn't cause to reject the car. If the shutlines on the tailgate are out of true, causing problems opening and closing, Motorpoint should, as a gesture of goodwill, have the tailgate refitted to your satisfaction. Just because they're a pile-em-high-sell-em-cheap supermarket, doesn't mean they should be low on customer care.
