FIFTY years ago next week, Prime Minister Harold Macmillan announced the launch of Premium Bonds. And since then 23million Brits have bought pounds 30billion worth of them hoping to scoop one of the million-pound jackpots.

Incredibly, as the 50th anniversary dawns, there are more than pounds 25million of unclaimed Premium Bond prizes. They range from just pounds 25 to pounds 25,000 - and the oldest dates back to the very first draw in June 1957.
