THIS week Mercedes-Benz unveiled the GLK, an Audi Q5, Land Rover Freelander and BMW X3-chasing SUV that's supposed to be as roomy as an ML.
Sharp and handsome, the mini-Merc soft-roader will be built in Germany (US-made MLs and GLs have had reliability problems), and will come with seven-speed standard auto, 3-litre and 3.5-litre V6 petrol and 2.1-litre and 3-litre V6 common-rail diesel engines.
