THE mysteries of Ancient Egypt were unveiled by modern technology when a 2,000-year-old mummy was given a state-of-the-art CAT scan.
The linen bandages around the tiny body which had been given to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford were too delicate to be unwrapped. So scientists turned to the scanner in the city's John Radcliffe Hospital, a device which is usually used to find tumours. By taking X-rays from different angles, the CAT scanner built up a 3D image of the mummy and revealed it to be the corpse of boy of about three years old who probably died of pneumonia.See the full content of this document
