Summary
Q YOU once wrote an article on Smurfs and I have some I'd like to sell. Where can I do that? - Alison Bain, by email
A BELGIAN ar tist Peyo created these famous blue creatures. They first appeared in 1958 as characters in the story The Flute with the Six Holes. The first figurines were produced in the mid-60s but they didn't reach Britain until 1978 when they were used to advertise National service stations. The really collectable Smurfs include: I love New York (a Smurf holding a red apple), worth up to pounds 350, and two Christmas Smurfs, both praying (one in a blue suit and a Smurfette in a pink suit), worth up to pounds 180 each. One footballing Smurf, which the seller says could have been a test version, just sold online for pounds 410. Look out too for a golden- winged Smurf clutching a parcel and also rare Jubilee Smurfs. The internet is one of the best ways to reach potential buyers.See the full content of this document
