Instant expert THIS week saw the sale of property from Carlton Towers, a major Grade I listed Victorian country house in Yorkshire. It was substantially remodelled first by E.W. Pugin and then by J.F. Bentley in the second half of the 19th Century. The auction comprised 120 lots with the aim to fund a major restoration programme of the fabric and interiors of Carlton Towers.
Basics SOME superb pieces went under the hammer, including two matching pairs of George III silver wine coolers, by the iconic Paul Storr in London in 1809. They made a mighty pounds 147,650, while a pair of William IV silver soup tureens, covers and liners, again by Paul Storr, from 1831, sold for pounds 54,050.See the full content of this document
