BRITISH hoaxer David Hanna sparked a EUR30,000 search for a drowning family, by phoning coastguards to say two children and an adult who had dived in to save them were struggling in rough seas.

Within minutes 10 ships, a coastguard shore team and police started a desperate 90-minute search of the area.
