DIY tycoon David Quayle, who founded B&Q with his brother-in- law, left pounds 4.3million in his will.

Mr Quayle, 73, who died of a heart attack on a luxury cruise in April, opened the first store in Southampton in 1969 with Richard Block - the B in B&Q. They worked 66-hour, sixday weeks filling shelves, serving customers and unloading deliveries - for which they paid themselves pounds 90 a month each.
