BE INFORMAL CREATE an impressive informal display in a country garden with a towering mixture of foxgloves, delphinium, mignonette and other resedas. Expert tip Give plants a good start. Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot. Tease the roots out so they don't grow in a circle. Set the plant at the same depth as in the pot, backfill with enriched soil and tamp down.
Easy Plant colchicums and autumn crocus in small groups in the front of shrub borders where the flowers can be seen in autumn. Go on a hunt by torchlight for night feeders such as slugs, snails and vine weevils. During the day you'll find these pests hiding in cool, shady places.
